The five key factors we believe cause weight gain:
Acidity: eating and drinking too many acidic foods such as meat, fish, grains, tea and coffee leads to weight gain, tiredness, digestive problems (IBS, food allergies etc), candida overgrowth and a wide range of diseases. Too much acidity causes oxygen levels in the body to drop*, which allow bacteria, yeast and fungus to take hold. (*as shown by 1931 Nobel prize Laurette Otto Warburg ),
Deficiency: we don’t get enough of certain nutrients, no matter what we eat. These vital nutrients are important in not only preventing disease but helping the body to function optimally.
Toxicity: we are the first generation to be exposed to so many chemicals and toxins that accumulate in our bodies, wreaking havoc, and potentially making us ill.
Blood sugar: eating too many of the wrong carbohydrates, such as bread, pasta and white potato, has a rapid effect on our insulin production. This can cause the body to store fat and results in us feeling tired and craving the wrong foods – chocolate, crisps and cereal etc.
Dehydration: most of us drink nowhere near our individual needs of water (0.033 x bodyweight in kg = litres you should drink per day) leaving us chronically dehydrated. This can cause a huge range of symptoms including cellulite, bloatedness, high blood pressure, headache, joint pain etc.
The 5 simple solutions for a healthier you:
Alkalise: we have designed our own simple meal plans that provide the all-important balance of 70 per cent alkalising foods – primarily vegetables and fruits – and 30 per cent acidic. This will still allow you to enjoy yourself, eating out, socialising etc.
